Green Tea Research Shows Interesting Results

Green Tea Research Shows Interesting Results A recent piece of research has found bottled green tea contains a very small level of antioxidants. The study was conducted by the American Chemical Society in Boston and their results have send shock waves across the industry.

The study measured the level of different types of antioxidants called polyphenols. This group has being linked with anti cancer and anti diabetic properties. They used six different brands of tea which included a number of Green Tea brands as well.

The results showed the bottled tea drinks contained little or no antioxidants which the product is famous for. Shiming Li was in charge of the study and he told the conference that almost half of the products tested did not contain any antioxidants and the other half  had very small concentrations of antioxidants.

The process used to conduct this experiment is called high performance liquid chromatography and when a normal sample of homemade tea was tested by the same method the polyphenols levels were almost 2 to 3 times higher than bottled green tea.

There is still no doubt that homemade green tea is still a great product that has huge health benefits for the consumer and will carry on being demanded across the world. However this study has posed some difficult questions about bottled green tea and more research is needed to clarify these issues.
